United Against Terror
UNITED AGAINST TERROR.Each September, SSI chapters host 9/11 memorials, planting American flags in the grass to spell out “9/11” and highlighting the shared stand of America and Israel against terrorism. Through these memorials, students honor the victims and stand in solidarity with their families.
This program is hosted in collaboration with other campus organizations, local law enforcement, and the first responders who serve and protect our campus communities. |

Shared Values

Honor First Responders
We invite local law enforcement and first responders to stand with us, and present them Certificates of Appreciation for their service.
Every Year Since 2012
SSI is the only student movement that has consistently observed this day, without fail, since our founding.
CAMPAIGN SET-UP

Set up a table with SSI's banner, and have flags available on the table.

Make a sign or banner with 9/11 information, or a memorial event sign.

Hold some of the flags in your hands to hand out to students as they pass by.

In front of the table, lay out the shape of the numbers "9/11" using cups or small planters.
Pro tip: fill them with water or sand so they hold their shape in the wind.

Invite students, faculty, and passersby to place a flag in memory of the victims — flag by flag, the "9/11" shape fills in.
This is the basic set-up — each year, many SSI chapters build on it with added information, banners, or signage on the 9/11 terror attacks and the importance of standing united against terror.

Request materials from SSI National to bring this campaign to your campus. Chapters receive ready-to-use resources and are encouraged to customize their programming by creating educational trifold displays, designing event flyers, organizing vigils, hosting tabling events, and developing other initiatives that best fit their campus community.
