When antisemitism erupts on campus, SSI students rely on our team to step in and address the situation. They know they are not alone—and that our broader community is ready to act.

Time and again, community members tell us they feel helpless when these incidents unfold, especially if they are not students themselves. They ask us the same question: What can we do to help?

Beyond financial support, one of the most powerful ways to stand with Jewish students is to speak up. These calls to action mobilize our community to apply real pressure on university leadership when antisemitism occurs by demanding accountability from those responsible.

Warren Wilson College is promoting an event that draws false and offensive parallels between the Holocaust and modern political issues. Using the genocide of six million Jews to frame current conflicts is not education, it's Holocaust inversion - a form of trivialization that distorts history and misuses Jewish trauma.

Events like this mislead students, spread inaccurate comparisons, and diminish the integrity of Holocaust remembrance. They also creates an isolating environment for Jewish students and faculty, who are forced to see their history be misrepresented on their own campus. The Holocaust stands on its own historical truth and cannot be repurposed to fit political narratives.

We are calling on our community to take action by emailing Warren Wilson College leadership (using our template) and demanding accountability, the cancellation of this event, and a commitment to accurate, responsible Holocaust education that respects survivors, victims, and the Jewish community on campus.

The University of Minnesota - Twin Cities (UMTC) Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) will be hosting Mohammed El-Kurd, one of Twitter’s most prolific antisemites, on January 21 to vilify the world’s one and only Jewish state and the sole democracy in the Middle East.

The event, which the radical anti-Israel group, SJP states, is focused on discussing El-Kurd’s latest book and the “ethnic cleansing of Palestine as a whole,” will undoubtedly serve as a means to harass and intimidate Jewish and pro-Israel students on campus. 

The Minnesota community, students and faculty should be alarmed that a speaker who openly promotes antisemitism, the destruction of the State of Israel, and denies the Jewish people's right to self-determination is being welcomed on OUR campus. 

Students Supporting Israel condemns Mohammed El Kurd, to the strongest degree for his antisemitic and xenophobic remarks across social media and in speaking engagements across the world. El Kurd's words on social media are disgraceful and can not be tolerated by any means at UMN, nor anywhere else.

Since gaining recognition as one of the world’s most notorious bigots, Mohammed El-Kurd has compared Israelis to Nazis, negated the historic Jewish connection to the Land of Israel, and has vilified the Jewish people’s right to self-determination. El-Kurd’s insane statements have even led to him claiming that Israelis eat the organs of Palestinians and have a lust for Palestinian blood. 

Most recently, Mohammed shared a video after a  Palestinian terrorist that stabbed a Jewish pedestrian walking on the street was killed, promoting the false narrative that Israel executes innocent Palestinians. 

SSI National, and the SSI at the University of Minnesota members call for the University to take a stronger stance condemning the words of Mohammed El Kurd to ensure Zionist and Jewish students alike know that our campus does not welcome promoters of Jew hatred and terror. This is not the first time that Jewish students have been discriminated against in the last 10 years of SSI's existence, and it sadly will not be the last.
NOW is the time to take a stance in order to create an end to this ONCE and FOR ALL.

We, the students and community members of University of Minnesota, request the Board of Directors and Administration of the University of Minnesota review its decision to permit Students for Justice in Palestine to host radical antisemite, Mohammed El-Keb on January 21st, 2022.

2021/2022 REINSTATE STUDENTS SUPPORTING ISRAEL CHAPTER AT DUKE UNIVERSITY!

A new SSI chapter at Duke was chartered on Wednesday, November 10th, 2021. Yet, on Monday, November 15, 2021, we unexpectedly learned that Duke’s Student Government President decided to veto the recognition of Duke’s SSl chapter on campus.

The reason for the veto: the chapter responded to a critical comment on social media, made by another Duke student about the creation of the club, explained why the student's comment was inaccurate and what is SSI's mission on campus, and called her to participate in SSI's upcoming event.

The student then complained that the chapter's response was harassing her and making her feel unsafe, and the Student Government President vetoed the existence of the group altogether, in a first veto of its kind that was not used by a student government president for years.  

On Wednesday, November 17, there was a student government meeting where the veto was upheld. 
We ask that the veto be overturned:

  • Responding publicly to a public comment is not harassment, but excising freedom of speech and engaging in a debate. This incident sets a dangerous example of student groups being vetoed based on their speech.

  • The student government seemed to subjectively apply an unprecedented standard based on which it denied the group's recognition. 

  • The veto power that was not used for years prior to this incident, seems viewpoint discriminatory, as it was never used against any other group that may have received criticism from other students on campus.

  • The social media reply seemed like an excuse to remove SSI from campus. Already in the initial questioning to establish the group, the students were challenged by senators regarding how they are planning to deal with opposing views. 

  • While anti-Zionist and antisemitic comments or remarks do not get addressed at all by student government at Duke, such as the comment from a group called Students for Justice in Palestine, a correction of anti-Israel remarks get the SSI group vetoed. This is double standard and policing of speech.

  • We ask that the university reserves the veto and let the Students Supporting Israel chapter be recognized as an official student club at Duke

The State of Israel is the historical homeland of the Jewish people, where our language, culture, religion and traditions were established. Following years of diaspora without having a home, the Jewish people were finally able to establish an independent state and become masters of our own destiny.

2022: STUDENTS SUPPORTING ISRAEL IN SUPPORT OF PROFESSOR JASON D. HILL OF DEPAUL UNIVERSITY
An article at The DePaulia wrote, “DePaul University Faculty Council is expected to vote on a resolution condemning professor Jason Hill’s article on the “moral right of Israel” to annex Palestine during its May 1 meeting.”

We would like to express our outrage at this decision’s cowardliness and double standard. While hundreds of articles demonizing Israel or call for a one state solution that would end Israel are published on campuses nationwide and go unnoticed, it is an article of a faculty member that’s critical of terrorism and that calls out the problematic Palestinian moral stance that gets the writer accused of “an abuse of his academic freedom” in a resolution to be voted on later today.

This so called “Resolution on Academic Freedom and Responsibility” is yet another bizarre example of Students for Justice in Palestine and other anti-Israel groups on campuses trying to police and silence thoughts other than their own. In some cases from around the country, these groups physically disrupt events of Israeli or pro-Israel academics. This time they are trying to sensor and shame an academic scholar via a resolution.

No where in Hill’s article does he advocate for, “war crimes and ethnic cleansing, and give voice to racism with respect to the Palestinian populations… as well as Arabs generally.”

In addition, the “real harm his words have caused to students and other members of our community” is a blunt made up accusation, as the only so called “harm” Hill’s article caused is to challenge the points of view of the writers of the resolution. In addition, this resolution contradicts itself by affirming “free and open expression as essential to intellectual inquiry” yet a few paragraphs down “condemns in the strongest possible terms both the tone and content of Professor Hill’s article.”

We call on the groups and faculty who are behind this resolution to withdraw it and stop the absurd hypocrisy of invoking “freedom of speech abuse” when such speech does not align with your personal views. Academic settings are created to allow a marketplace of opinions, but your actions abuse these principles.

On Thursday, January 12th, 2023, during Vice President Kamala Harris’ visit to the University of Michigan, members of the pro-Palestinian campus group, Students Allied for Freedom and Equality (SAFE), marched and openly called for the genocide and murder of Israelis and Jews.

“There is only one solution, Intifada revolution” was one of the chants heard from the protestors. 1,030 Israelis were murdered by Palestinian terrorists during the 2nd Intifada 5,598 were injured. Terror groups like the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Hamas, and the Islamic Jihad murdered Israelis and Jews on buses in Jerusalem, during Passover dinners, in restaurants and elsewhere.

University of Michigan’s 2016-2021 DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION STRATEGIC PLAN, notes a pledge, signed by the administrative executives, in which they note to uphold accountability in commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. As a higher education academic institution ranking 5th of most Jewish populated (14%) college campuses, it is the obligation of University of Michigan to speak out and suspend SAFE from campus. At a time where words hold a powerful influence and the Jewish community is ranked the number one targeted community in the country per hate crimes in relation to global population, violent chants can, and HAVE, easily escalated into violent actions against Zionists and Jewish students on campus.
In order to combat the rising hatred and misinformation infecting campuses, we mustn't sit idly by expecting a change to occur. We must ACT.

In March and April of 2023, Students Supporting Israel (SSI) will be hosting our 2nd Annual Palestinian Apartheid Week campaign on college campuses across North America. SSI brings to campuses the vital information that groups, like
those marching in the name of genocide at University of Michigan, don’t want you to hear:
  • The Palestinian government has made it part of their official policy to reward and honor the slaughter of Jews under the Palestinian Authority Martyrs Fund program known as, “Pay for Slay.”
  • Jews cannot pray freely in Palestinian-controlled territories without fear of violence.
  • Jews are forbidden from owning land in Palestinian-controlled territories.
  • Mixing of Arabs and Jews in Palestinian-controlled territories is forbidden.
  • Article VII of the Hamas Charter declares, “The Day of Judgment will not
    come about until Muslims fight Jews and kill them.”
  • Both the Palestinian Authority and Hamas actively seek to erase the existence of the Jewish people from their textbooks, maps, and their entire education system.

    These facts cannot be ignored, nor dismissed from the campus communities, and those advocating against the right of Jewish self-determination. We cannot turn a blind eye to Jewish hatred embedded in Palestinian-controlled territory policies to Palestinian-controlled campus groups.

2025: UNCC Administration Makes SSI Pay for Riot Control
Students Supporting Israel (SSI) has launched "Triggered: The Tour" - a nationwide campus tour featuring a panel of IDF soldiers who bravely defended Israel after the Hamas terrorist massacre on October 7th, 2023. The speakers are set to talk about the importance of Israel defending itself from terror threats and misguided propaganda, and the way Israeli society stepped up to volunteer following October 7.

Named “triggered” to ironically point out the fact that students on campuses are mostly not triggered by world events unless it has anything to do with Israel, the tour indeed has triggered outrage among anti-Israel groups, who are aggressively demanding that SSI and university administrators cave to their pressures and cancel the events.

The event at UNCC, scheduled for March 25th, is one of the worst examples of this coercion.

The campus anti-Israel groups and terrorist sympathizers including students, faculty and community members, are attempting to shut down SSI’s event, and the university is pandering to their demands by imposing SSI to take care of its own safety. After defacing and defaming the Tour’s poster online, SJP and its affiliates attacked administration at UNCC, demanding that this event be cancelled and creating a petition with their demands with over 300 signatures, noting:

“We, the undersigned organizations, students, staff, faculty, and community members demand that UNC-Charlotte administration recognize the UNCC Students Supporting Israel's direct violation of UNC-Charlotte's neutrality policy by inciting physical and emotional distress within the student body through their hosting of active-duty IDF soldiers on March 25th.”

SSI at UNCC responded with a statement condemning the hateful rhetoric directed towards our event and group and reaffirmed our commitment to promoting free speech and understanding.

We refused to accept these conditions, citing our right to free speech and assembly, and urged the university to ensure our event proceeds as planned, while encouraging the free speech of those who disagree with us:

​UNCC’s Failure to Stand Up to Bullying:

Despite SSI students’ efforts to share the story of Israel's self-defense against terrorism, and our overwhelming adherence to campus policies and protocols, UNC Charlotte administrators are succumbing to pressure from these radical anti-Israel groups. In a move that punishes pro-Israel students instead of those who attempt to silence our voices, the university is coercing Students Supporting Israel (SSI) by imposing a hefty nearly $5,000 campus security fee if SSI were to go ahead with the event.

This excessive charge requiring 22 security personnel (16 police officers and 6 staff security), not only creates financial barriers and stifle our freedom of expression, as most student groups would be deterred by such a significant cost. It also makes Jewish students pay to be kept safe on their own campus following threats against them. If we let a university charge pro-Israel groups thousands in security fees to make Israeli voice heard, which pro-Israel speakers will be censored on campus next?  

Jews are NOT an exception to campus protection and should not pick up the university’s riot control bills!

SSI respects law enforcement, but the university’s ask that those targeted by threats pay for providing their own safety is effectively pandering to bullies and terrorist supporters, shielding itself for any responsibility to provide protection to pro-Israel students.
