From Awareness to ACTION...

When antisemitism erupts on campus, SSI students rely on our team to step in and address the situation. They know they are not alone—and that our broader community is ready to act.

Time and again, community members tell us they feel helpless when these incidents unfold, especially if they are not students themselves. They ask us the same question: What can we do to help?

Beyond financial support, one of the most powerful ways to stand with Jewish students is to speak up. These calls to action mobilize our community to apply real pressure on university leadership when antisemitism occurs by demanding accountability from those responsible.

Tell Macalester College to Cancel This Course

Macalester is offering a course titled “Palestine” this fall that presents the “ongoing genocide of Palestinians” as settled fact and assigns a book its own publisher says “dismantles Zionist propaganda.” That's not education — it's indoctrination, and it's earning academic credit.

The semester hasn't started. Tell Macalester's administration to review and cancel SOCI 294-02 in its current form.

According to Macalester: “Discussions will center Israel’s continued territorial expansion and the ongoing genocide of Palestinians.”

The course does not describe genocide as an allegation to be examined or a highly contested issue for students to study. It presents it as fact.

The required materials are just as concerning. Students are assigned Genocide Bad: Notes on Palestine, Jewish History, and Collective Liberation — a book whose own publisher says it “dismantles Zionist propaganda in ten unapologetic essays.”

This is a course that begins its study of the conflict with “the rise of Zionism and resistance to it,” centers the supposed “ongoing genocide of Palestinians,” and assigns material explicitly written to dismantle what it calls “Zionist propaganda.” And Macalester is giving students academic credit for it.

Universities have every right to teach about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Students should be exposed to difficult questions, competing perspectives and criticism of Israel. But presenting political accusations as established facts and anti-Zionist advocacy as academic instruction is not education.

We have an opportunity to act before this class begins.

This is grassroots advocacy. It means seeing what is happening on a campus and doing something about it before it becomes the norm.

Contact Macalester College. Ask the administration to review and cancel SOCI 294-02: Palestine in its current form. Make it clear that students deserve an education that examines competing perspectives rather than a course built around predetermined political conclusions.

02/2026  |  Warren Wilson College — Demand accountability for Holocaust inversion event

Warren Wilson College promoted an event drawing false and offensive parallels between the Holocaust and modern political issues. SSI called on the community to email college leadership demanding accountability, cancellation of the event, and a commitment to accurate, responsible Holocaust education.

2025  |  UNC Charlotte — Made SSI pay for its own security

SSI launched “Triggered: The Tour,” a nationwide campus tour featuring IDF veterans who defended Israel after October 7th. Ahead of the UNCC stop, anti-Israel groups pressured the university to cancel, and the administration responded by charging SSI nearly $5,000 in security fees requiring 22 security personnel to hold the event. SSI refused to accept these conditions, citing its right to free speech and assembly, and called out the university for shifting the cost of protection onto the students being targeted.

2023  |  University of Pennsylvania — Terror-supporting speakers on campus

SSI called on UPenn administration to address a campus event featuring speakers and organizers with documented ties to terror-affiliated rhetoric, and mobilized the community to submit formal concerns through a dedicated form.

2023  |  University of Michigan — Chants calling for violence against Israelis and Jews

During VP Kamala Harris’s January 2023 visit to campus, members of Students Allied for Freedom and Equality (SAFE) marched chanting “Intifada revolution.” SSI called on University of Michigan — citing its own Diversity, Equity & Inclusion pledge — to speak out and suspend SAFE from campus, and launched its 2nd Annual Palestinian Apartheid Week campaign to counter the group's messaging with facts.

2022  |  University of Chicago — SJP boycott of "Jewish identity"

SSI sent a formal letter to University of Chicago administration after Students for Justice in Palestine posted antisemitic content targeting Jewish identity on campus, calling for accountability.

2022  |  DePaul University — Support for Professor Jason D. Hill

DePaul's Faculty Council moved to condemn Professor Jason Hill for an article defending Israel's right to annex territory. SSI called out the double standard of censuring a scholar critical of terrorism while anti-Israel material circulates freely, and urged the Council to withdraw the resolution.

2022  |  University of Minnesota, Twin Cities — Petition against hosting Mohammed El-Kurd

UMTC's Students for Justice in Palestine invited Mohammed El-Kurd — known for comparing Israelis to Nazis and spreading blood libel — to speak on campus. SSI organized a petition asking the university's Board of Directors and Administration to reconsider hosting the event.

2021  |  Duke University — Reinstate the SSI chapter

Days after Duke's new SSI chapter was officially chartered, the Student Government President vetoed its recognition over a social media reply the chapter posted defending its mission. SSI argued the veto was viewpoint discriminatory and asked the university to reverse it and formally recognize the chapter.
