Shared Table. Shared Values. Shared Future.
HOST A DINNER

What is Breaking Bread?

Breaking Bread is an interfaith, bridge-building initiative from Students Supporting Israel (SSI), designed to bring Jewish, Christian, and other student communities together around one of the most ancient forms of connection — a shared meal.

We reject the lie that Zionist is a dirty word.

In a time when students are told to whisper their support for Israel, Breaking Bread dares to speak it out loud — with pride, with purpose, and with people from all walks of life gathered at the same table.

At SSI, we don’t believe in hiding who we are or filtering our beliefs to make others comfortable. Zionism is not a slur — it’s a story of peoplehood, justice, and survival. And through shared meals, honest conversation, and unity with our likeminded friends, we’re reclaiming it, one dinner at a time.

How it works...

  1. You host.
You choose a date, time, and location on or off campus that meets the needs of students at your university. Find students, clubs, or community groups who would be willing to partner with you for the event and invite their networks.
  2. We provide support.
SSI helps you organize a shabbat-style group meal - we'll help with the food, funding, and conversation prompts.
  3. Conversations happen.
These dialogues help us understand what Zionism means to our communities, and why we are better as a unified force in defeating antisemitism and stigmas against Zionism.

"Never before has Columbus seen 300+ Christian and Jewish students come together in the name of Israel. Their openness, engagement, and unique perspectives made the night incredibly special. In a time when standing together is essential, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for you."
-Ava Zweig, President of SSI at OSU

Support Dialogue. Support Israel. Support the future.

Every donation brings more students together, builds stronger alliances on campus, and give a more unified voice to Zionists everywhere.
