In March 2017, SSI at Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University) passed a resolution adopting the Ottawa Protocol on Combating Antisemitism, which equates antisemitic behavior with anti-Zionist rhetoric.
The Ryerson Student Union executive voted to update its official Anti-Oppression Glossary to incorporate the Ottawa Protocol, which had been adopted by the Canadian federal government in 2012. The resolution was introduced by SSI at Ryerson President, Rebeccah K. and co-sponsored by StandWithUs Canada. "Now I can confidently say that this motion makes it far more difficult for anti-Semites to perpetuate anti-Semitism at the student government level, and now, we are able to hold them accountable."
