St. Lawrence University UNANIMOUSLY Passes Resolution Adopting IHRA Definition of Antisemitism.

The bill includes and adopts the IHRA definition which defines antisemitism as “Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”

In a statement by Students Supporting Israel at St. Lawrence University President, Achiad Kalman said:

"A year ago, I transferred schools because of antisemitism. This evening, thanks to a joint effort of Students Supporting Israel and the Jewish Student Union, a student government resolution adopting the IHRA definition of antisemitism was passed unanimously.

This isn't only a personal achievement, but a big step towards combating antisemitism and ensuring the safety of the St. Lawrence Jewish community.

I salute the Thelomathesian Society (SLU's student government) for their active role in passing the resolution and protecting Jewish students, together with other minorities."

St. Lawrence University joins other SSI chapters as the fourth to pass the IHRA definition.
